This website is run by Monkey Business Tree Surgery & Landscaping (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Newbury, West Berkshire. We are the data controller for any personal data you give us through this website, and we are committed to protecting it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

When you request a quote using our contact form, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• The service you are interested in and a description of the work
• Any photos you choose to send us
• Your address or location, if you share it so we can visit or quote

Our contact form does not store your details on this website. When you submit it, your own email app opens with your details filled in, and the information only reaches us if you choose to send that email.

We only use your personal data to:

• Reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote
• Arrange site visits and carry out work you have asked for
• Send invoices and keep records we are legally required to keep

Our lawful bases for this are that it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract with you, and to comply with our legal obligations (for example, tax records). We will never sell your data or use it for marketing without your consent.

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how many people visit our website and which pages are popular. Vercel Analytics collects anonymous, aggregated information (such as pages viewed, referring website, country, browser and device type). It does not use cookies to track you across other websites and we cannot use it to identify you personally.

When you choose “Accept” or “Decline” on our cookie banner, we save that choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask you again. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run our business, such as our website host (Vercel), our email provider, and WhatsApp if you choose to contact us that way. These providers only process your data as needed to provide their services and are required to keep it secure.

• Enquiries that don't lead to work: deleted within 12 months of our last contact with you.
• Customer records (quotes, invoices and job details): kept for 6 years to meet HMRC tax record requirements, then deleted.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct any data that is inaccurate or incomplete
• Delete your data (the “right to be forgotten”), where we don't need to keep it for legal reasons
• Restrict or object to how we use your data
• Data portability: receive your data in a commonly used format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent

We will respond to any request within one month and there is normally no charge.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
